Who’s Behind the Screen?

Hi there! I’m Beth, and I’m the writer, consulting manager and mom behind Parent Lightly.

First things first – I’m so incredibly glad that you’re here! You’re 100% my reason for sharing here at Parent Lightly. I do love writing, and the website design is fun, but it’s connecting with other working parents that really gets me up in the morning and keeps me up late at night.

Here’s what you need to know about me.

I’ve been a working mom since 2012…

I know all of the struggles from baby to elementary. How will my baby sleep at daycare? How can I help my five year old learn her sight words? And everything in between. Whether you’re a new mama or a seasoned pro, I’ve got you covered with the best school and daycare hacks, parenting tips and inspirational messages!

I love data so you don’t have to….

I have degrees in Math and Economics, and my daily job is in analytics software. I love data and I enjoy looking at studies. There’s a lot of misleading information about there for parents, and I hate that! Parenting does not need to be any harder than it already is. That’s why I’ll sift through the data, read the studies, and let you know what’s real and what’s BS. No number-crunching required for Parent Lightly readers (unless you like that sort of thing, too)!

I’m all about healthy living, but I’m not that fit…

I definitely do not have abs, or anything else, of steel. I’m into eating healthy (as much as I can) and exercising (when I can make the time) not because of how it makes me look, but because of how it makes me feel. An autoimmune disease smacked me down pretty early in my parenting career, and that was a lesson in putting on my oxygen mask first. Parenting is hard work, and you’ve got to take care of yourself if you want to keep up with your kids. At Parent Lightly, I’ll share the health and wellness ideas that give you the highest return on investment!

I’ve always been scatterbrained, so I already know the tricks to remembering everything…

When I was in college, I left my cell phone on the roof of my car and drove off three times. I also locked my keys in the car once while it was still running. And that was before I had two tiny humans to take care of! I’ve always been a little forgetful, especially when I’m stressed, so I’ve got systems, apps, tools and techniques to keep myself in check. And wow are those processes even more important for working moms! From simplifying your daily routines to finding the best productivity tools, I’ve got the goods on keeping it together when you’re going in 10 different directions.

I love having a career…

My job is never boring, and I love that. Being engaged in your career really helps alleviate the mom guilt because you’re doing something rewarding. It can be hard to grow your skills and expand your network when you’re flat out exhausted. Have no fear – I’ve got you covered! Whether you need practical job tips or just some encouragement, I’m here for you.

The Parent Lightly Framework

I’m out of survival mode, and I want that for you. I know that it’s possible for every working mom to move beyond just hanging on, by embracing your own health, simplifying your life and enhancing your productivity. Once you’ve tackled these three focus areas, you’ll have the time and space to really develop as a professional and parent. You can do this, and I’ll be with you every step of the way!
